Vestiges of arcs that made part of the building of Estaus.

Infant D. Enrique ordered the construction of this monument, from which there are still vestiges, for lodging of its guests, the merchants and adornment of Tomar.

His brother, D. Duarte, is supposed to have died here, on 9th of September of 1438, victim of plague. However, it seems that this has happend in the Palace of the Infant, in the Convent, from where he has left, in sad procession, to Batalha.

It was buried in the left side of the famous Incomplete Chapels.

In the following day, D. Afonso V was acclaimed King, in Tomar in front of Charola.

Next to the Estaus, in archeries, the Infant made the bazaar of the Jews, creating the Streets of Arcs and Graça (the name drift from the Hospital of Saint Maria da Graça which the Infant, in 1449, also ordered to be constructed).
