Convent located on the left edge of Nabão river, place where according to tradition suffered St. Iria, being launched in the river.
 

Iria was a descendent of rich familys Convento de Stª Iria visto da ponte velhafrom Nabância (Region of Tomar). She received her education in a monastery of Benedictine nuns in which she would come to teach. Early she arouse interest and affection among the population, mainly in the young nobles, due to its intelligence and beauty.

Among them, Britaldo felt for Iria an unhealthy passion; however she escaped of the loving assaults because she was a devoted confesses of God.
 

Remígio, monk and spiritual leader of Iria to whom its beauty do not pass unobserved, possessed with jealous, gave her an enchantress tisane appearing in her body pregnancy signals.

Banished from the convent, the poor maiden retired herself to the river to pray, where she was treacherously assassinated by one servant of Britaldo.
 

Launched to the river, the body of the martyr would only come to be found already close to Santarém in Tagus river. Later it was deposited in celestial tomb, in the sands of Tagus, remaining incorruptible.
