Building whose origins ascend to the second half of century XIII, was in times the mother church of all the churches of the Portuguese dominions in Africa, Asia and America.

It is assumed to have been the first headquarters of the Order of the Temple. Some mural tablets are worthy of register, nominated of D. Gualdim Pais and of Master Lourenço Martins and Master D. Gil Martins, all in legible gothic characters.

In front of the Church, is placed a tower of rectangular plant with two floors and situated in a superior level; since long time is speculated on the existence of a tunnel that would bind this tower to the Castle of the Templars, located some km of distance, but until today nothing it was concluded.
